Today was a very exciting day in kindergarten - the room was completely re-arranged last night (a bit of middle-of-the-year changing-around). The puppet theater that was in our class is gone, and it was replaced by a Post Office (as we think in February about sending Valentines and Flat Stanleys). We are also talking in class about the fact that they are now "second-half of kindergartners," and their behavior and attitudes should reflect the fact that they are (and I hesitate to say it) almost first graders.

Today, after Center Time and Afternoon Meeting, we learned a new song for the week ("My Aunt Monica"), which has three sight words for the week (I, have, and said), one 'magic ending' (-ed), and our new High Hat friend's sound - (/oo// all in it. We talked about the various words and how they appear in the song, and then practiced singing as well.

Then, we had Writer's Workshop. We talked again about the process for getting an idea, and then putting it on paper. The kids are doing some amazing writing, and they all wrote for about 20 minutes. After they wrote, they all had a chance to share their writing with a friend.

After that, we had Choice Time, and then packed up to head home.
